Arts Award
Dancefest is an Arts Award Welcome Centre. Young people can use our classes, workshops and performances to help them gain the Arts Award.
Dancefest works with many young people in youth groups and other organisations, and in the community throughout Herefordshire and Worcestershire. We offer opportunities for participation and performance in small to large scale projects. We see Arts Award as a great way to engage more young people in the arts as participants, performers, audience and arts leaders.
We have a performance group, DFY, who work with choreographers and filmmakers to create new dance work to be performed throughout the region and beyond.
Dancefest is developing a Youth Dance Network across Herefordshire and Worcestershire to widen access, and to offer increased opportunities to perform and take part.
We also work in schools and universities, leading workshops and projects from one day workshops to longer term projects.
We take students on work placement and as volunteers, we can offer advice on working in dance as a community dance practitioner, dancer, administrator or manager.
We work with venues in the region on programming dance from all over the UK and overseas, giving young people the opportunity to see and work with professional dance companies.
